Collecting the Bus !!!

No need for an alarm clock with Nathaniel waking us all at 4 in the morning !! Did mean we had plenty of time to try out the hotel waffle maker though, before heading off south on the I-25. The route today took us South to Walsenburg to collect the bus (and insure and register) before heading back up to Pueblo to drop off the hire car.

We made pretty good time, arriving at Ron's place just after nine. The bus was all we had hoped for and the morning was spent chatting to Ron and his wife Carol plus unpacking all the camping supplies we had sent ahead of us.
Ron was a fascinating bloke, really into his VW's and full of stories - he even has a licence to grow pot! Does life get any better ? After a couple of journeys into the local town hall to sort out the title, we were ready for the off.
The big moment, a few last minute pointers from Ron and ........
..... she's off !!
The bus drove pretty well really, especially considering the amount of time she has been off the road (1986 !). The trip up to Pueblo was fairly sedate however !! down hill (with a following wind is good for 70mph just but up hill and 40 is about the maximum!!
We made it back with 9 minutes to spare for the hire car drop off - and then celebrated with tea in Walmart carpark - at which point a cold Corona went down very well!!!! All in all a very good day !!!

    1. Thanks Marc. We need to stop in Santa Fe to get the Generator fixed - so that sounds like a good way to kill a bit of time !!
